A Family Kitchen Right Off the Highway

Tucked into Main St in Blanco, Hacienda El Charro has become the kind of place travelers plan their route around. Just a half block from Blanco State Park, it's the spot locals send visitors when they want a real meal without the wait or the fuss — the kind of homestyle Mexican cooking that shows up hot, fast, and in portions big enough to share.

Our kitchen leans on scratch-made classics: sizzling fajitas, chorizo and egg plates, and enchiladas built the way abuela would make them. One regular put it best after ordering the Fajitas Chilangas: "the order was huge and so tasty." That's the whole philosophy here — generous plates, honest prices, and food that tastes like someone's grandmother is watching the stove.

We don't serve beer, but we're happy to point you to the convenience store right across the parking lot if you'd like to bring your own. Everything else — the salsa, the service, the warm tortillas — is on us. Come hungry, and don't rush off before dessert.
